About Comercial

Comercial Futebol Clube is a Brazilian football club from the city of Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, founded on October 10, 1911 and its colors are black and white.

It is known as the Lion of the North because of a famous tour of the north and northeast of Brazil in May and June 1920, where it remained undefeated. Its biggest rival is Botafogo-SP, also from the city of Ribeirão Preto, with which it plays the Come-Fogo derby, one of the most traditional in the interior of the state. A century-old club with a tradition in São Paulo football, it has achieved important feats, such as finishing fourth in the 1966 São Paulo State Championship, earning it the interior title at the time, as well as participation in the national elite. It is also known for great victories against the capital's big clubs, such as a 5-4 victory against São Paulo at Morumbi Stadium in 1986, being the only club in history to score five goals against São Paulo in its stadium, as well as a 4-0 victory against Corinthians in 1986 at Palma Travassos Stadium.

It plays its games at the Doutor Francisco de Palma Travassos Stadium, which has a capacity of almost 20,000 people, having faced Pelé's Santos in its inauguration, in the 1964 São Paulo State Championship. The first goal of the so-called Cement Jewel was scored by Comercial striker Paulo Bin; the second goal was scored by the greatest player in history: Pelé, and the match ended 3–2 for the Santos team. Another notable fact related to the Bafo stadium is that another legendary player, Garrincha (who at that time was playing for Olaria), scored his last goal of his career at the Comercial stadium, in Olaria's 2–2 draw with Comercial on March 23, 1972. That goal was, in fact, Mané's only goal for the club.
