About Learner Tien

Learner Tien (born December 2, 2005) is an American professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 48, achieved on 18 August 2025 and a doubles ranking of No. 344, achieved on that same date.

Early life
Tien was born in Irvine, California to Vietnamese Chinese Khuong Dan Tien and Huyen Tien. His first name, Learner, is inspired by his mother's profession — a math teacher. His sister is named Justice after his father's profession — a real estate lawyer.

Tien started taking tennis lessons in his early childhood, at a tennis facility next to his home. His potential was noticeable from the start, as he won his first tournament at the Racquet Club of Irvine at the age of 5.
