About Nick Saban

Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. (born October 31, 1951) is a retired American football coach widely regarded as one of the most accomplished figures in the sport’s history. Best known for his tenure as head coach at the University of Alabama from 2007 to 2023, Saban also led programs at LSU, Michigan State, and Toledo, and spent two seasons as head coach of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. Over his collegiate career, Saban compiled a record of 292–71–1 and secured seven national championships—one with LSU in 2003 and six with Alabama (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2020)—the most by any coach in the modern era. He remains the only coach to win a national title with two different FBS schools since the AP Poll era began in 1936. Saban and Paul "Bear" Bryant are the only coaches to win SEC championships at two different schools. Inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2013, Saban’s disciplined leadership and sustained excellence have left a lasting mark on the college football landscape.
