About Kyle Busch

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch died suddenly at the age of 41 on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from complications following a severe case of pneumonia. The racing world was stunned by his sudden illness and passing, which occurred just a day after he fell ill and passed out while working in a Chevrolet simulator.
At the time of his passing, Busch was competing in his 22nd full-time season in NASCAR's top division. Following the tragedy, Richard Childress Racing announced they would temporarily retire his iconic No. 8 car out of respect until his son, Brexton Busch, is old enough to take over the seat.

Nicknamed "Rowdy" by his loyal fanbase, "Rowdy Nation," Busch established himself as a generational talent and one of the most polarizing, competitive, and successful figures in motorsports history.
Won the premier NASCAR Cup Series championship twice, first in 2015 and again in 2019, both with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Secured 63 Cup Series victories, ranking him ninth on NASCAR's all-time premier class wins list. His final Cup victory came on June 4, 2023, at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Holds the absolute record for the most total wins across NASCAR's three national touring series, accumulating a staggering 234 combined victories.
